One of the principal difficulties in delivering biologically active molecules intracellularly for therapeutic applications or as probing tools is to overcome the hydrophobic and barely permeable cell barriers.The discovery of Protein Transduction Domains (PTDs) or Cell-Penetrating Peptides (CPP) in the 1980s, essentially peptides that are able to enter cells, has excited the scientific community and drawn a huge interest for their potential. To facilitate research in the field of CPPs, we have introduced a range of products called Transporter Peptides™ that consist of well documented Cell Penetrating Peptides (CPPs). 

Cell Penetrating Peptides (CPPs)

CPPs are relatively short peptides which have the remarkable ability to overcome the lipophillic barrier of the cellular membranes and covalently transport molecules into the cytoplasm, which would otherwise be cell-impermeable. They have been used to deliver small molecules as well as peptides, fluorophores, organic substrates, toxins, drugs and Peptide Nucleic Acids (PNA). They are equally effective for larger molecules including proteins and DNA.

We offer a range of pre-activated CPPs with Cys(Npys) for ease of coupling to a thiol-containing cargo as well as alkyne functionalised CPPs for conjugation to azide-containing partners via Click Chemistry.designed.
