Terminal alkyne reagents

A terminal alkyne is an alkyne in which at least one of the two atoms bonded to the triply bonded carbons is a hydrogen atom (RC2H). These compounds can react with azides in copper-catalysed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) to form pure, stable triazoles, that can be isolated easily. The CuAAC reaction is very efficient and specific over a large range of temperatures, pH and functional groups. Terminal alkynes can also form amides when reacted with primary amines in the presence of an activator (EDC, DCC).
